What to Expect
"I see your life as already artful, just waiting and ready for you to make it art"

Dr. Jill's Approach
I like to think my approach mirrors my disposition: gentle, natural, peculiar, and seemingly simple. Like many, my first introduction with naturopathic medicine was unexpected, unfamiliar, and credited entirely to my search for hope, long-term health, and anything but pharmaceuticals. I believe that medicine is an art as much as a science and my love and respect for both these disciplines makes blending the two in clinical practice a joy. I am humbled to accompany others through their healing journeys and want everyone to experience the incredible potential of naturopathic medicine. Below are a number of tried and true modalities that I use daily to help my patients increase their vitality, stimulate their inherent healing potential, and regain their optimum health.
Food as medicine
Naturopathic doctors receive extensive training in assessing and educating patients on how nutritional deficiencies, food intolerances, and dietary imbalances impact long-term health. Many conditions can be treated effectively with whole foods and nutritional supplements - the proper form, type, and time of intake are all critical details in the journey to and maintenance of optimum health. With a strong background in human physiology, biochemistry, and clinical nutrition it is without question that individualized dietary recommendations are the cornerstones of my treatment plans. My garden is my medicinary; it's where I go to reconnect and it's the first place I go when I know my body, or that of my patients, is out of balance.
So often my patient’s refer to allopathic medicine as ‘traditional medicine’ and it saddens me how disconnected and uninformed we are about traditional medicinal healing practices. Herbal medicine is one of the oldest forms of medicine. Medicinal plants contain a multitude of chemical constituents which give them therapeutic potency and versatility when treating a patient. Pharmaceuticals, alternatively, are often derived from isolated plant constituents. The benefit to using botanical medicines is that they offer a more complete and balanced healing potential, often adapting to the physiology of the human body and helping restore the body’s natural balance. Botanical medicines are effective and safe when used properly, in the right dose, and in the right combinations with other herbs and treatments.
Mental and Emotional Wellness
The stresses of everyday life inherently affect everyone, however the ways in which we individually respond to these stresses can have variable outcomes. By illuminating the ways in which patients have responded to past and present stresses, I am able to guide patients towards more positive choices and outcomes in their future. I frequently formulate individualized flower essence formulas to help shift perceptions and restore mental and emotional balance. Flower essences have a reputation of being both highly effective, as well as gentle and safe. They can provide patients with a greater sense of ease and trust to their present place in the world.
utilizing the Healing properties of water
Hydrotherapy is a fundamental modality of naturopathic doctors and its use dates back hundreds of years. The simplicity, accessibility, affordability, and effectiveness of hydrotherapy is unparalleled by any other modality. Hydrotherapy can help mobilize circulation and lymphatics, reduce inflammation, increase internal body temperatures, stimulate digestion and elimination, and promote healing. By using these healing properties of water topically, hydrotherapy treatments offer a non-invasive approach to improving your health naturally and is something you will find me recommending regularly.
Stool, blood, hair, and urine analysis
Specialized lab diagnostics are an additional tool to help in assessing and treating some conditions. These include and are not limited to food intolerance assessment, blood analysis, digestive system, heavy metal, urine metabolite, and hormonal testing. I will help you determine if additional testing is necessary and make recommendations accordingly.
Naturopathic doctors are trained to administer natural therapeutics directly into the bloodstream safely and effectively. When vitamins, minerals and other nutrients are given intravenously (IV), the gastrointestinal tract is by-passed allowing for optimal absorption and high dosages. Oftentimes in chronic illness the digestive tract is compromised, leaving the patient with nutrient deficiencies due to malabsorption. IV therapy is one method of improving nutrient load, overall cellular function, hydration, and systemic immunity. Indications for IV therapy include both acute and chronic illnesses. Ask to discuss if this modality is appropriate for you.
